Ovation Academy classes are designed to help students build new musical theater skills, develop their confidence as performers, make friends, and of course, HAVE FUN! No experience is necessary except where indicated.
We know summers are busy between vacations, camps, and other activities. That’s why in summer time, we allow drop-ins.
Choose to pay one discounted flat fee for the entire session, OR the per-class fee for only the classes that fit your schedule.

LET’S DANCE!
JUNE 16 – JULY 21 | SUNDAYS 2:00PM – 3:00PM
It’s time to move our feet, shake our hips, and DANCE! This introductory dance and movement class will teach beginners simple dance steps and choreography set to fun, upbeat musical theater tunes!

Let your little star shine on the big stage in this introductory exploration of musical theater! Through the pages of Broadway’s greatest kid-friendly hits, young performers will sing and dance to new numbers each week. Students will be inspired to unleash their imaginations, take bold risks, and develop their passion for musical theater!

Sing and harmonize your way to Broadway! Through a variety of group songs and solos from favorite musicals, students will explore proper breathing, vocal technique, and storytelling through song. Class introduces music theory, singing harmonies and confidently delivering solos.

IMPROV FOR ACTORS
JUNE 18 – JULY 23 | TUESDAYS 4:30 – 5:30PM
Part of being a great actor is learning to think quickly on your toes. Through a variety of games, exercises and strategic thinking, students will learn to improvise and create characters and scenes using only their imaginations. Learn how to truly be present on stage and listen to your fellow performers, skills that will take your acting to a new level.

BROADWAY DANCE I: BEGINNER
JUNE 16 – JULY 21 | SUNDAYS 3:00 – 4:00PM
Chasse and pirouette your way to Broadway! Classes focus on the fundamental technique of jazz, ballet, hip-hop, all of which lay the foundation for musical theater choreography. Students will explore classic and contemporary choreography; learn how to tell a story through movement; and execute simple combinations.

TAP I

Tap shoes required.
Time to get tapping! Students will learn introductory tap technique and begin to put together simple tap combinations. Learn about the history and cultural significance of tap while developing essential skills for any aspiring musical theater performer.

Designed for the musical theater performer, this class will introduce basic ballet technique and help students build a solid dance foundation. Infuse your Broadway dance choreography with the essential physical vocabulary you need to confidently approach many different styles of dance.

BROADWAY DANCE II: INTERMEDIATE
JUNE 19 – JULY 24 | WEDNESDAYS 6:00PM – 7:00PM
PREREQUISITE: One prior dance class, private lessons, or by permission of instructor
Students will explore various dance forms; learning how to tell a story through movement and execute choreography of all levels. Each week, students will experience new choreography, dance styles and make exciting additions to their personal dance repertoire.

SHOWCHOIR
JUNE 22 – JULY 27 | SATURDAYS 10:30AM – 11:30AM
Take your musical theater skills to a new level with challenging fast-paced choreography and music. A great preparation for those planning to participate in high school, or already involved in a school-based show choir program. Newbies welcome, but prepare to work hard and be challenged!

Page to Stage: YA Edition
JUNE 18 – JULY 23 | TUESDAYS 7:00 – 9:00PM
By popular demand, our adult Page to Stage class now has a special session for the young adult (18-25) crowd. Sing, dance and act with fellow performers and improve your musical theater technique in a supportive and challenging setting.

Page to Stage: Musical Theater for Grownups
JUNE 17 – JULY 22 | MONDAYS 7:30 – 9:00PM
Move over kids, it’s time for the grownups to take the stage! Choose numbers from your favorite Broadway musicals to work on with your fellow theater-lovers, incorporating choreography, character development, and vocal harmonies.
AGES: 25+

DROP-IN FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How does the Drop-In option work?
A: To accommodate your busy summer schedule, you have the option of paying a discounted flat fee to enroll in the entire session up front,
OR paying a per-class fee for only those classes your child actually attends. If they can ony attend two classes, they will only pay $60.

Q: Do I still need to enroll my child in the class if they plan to drop in?
A: YES! All students must be enrolled, even if they only plan to attend one day of class. Enroll your child, but do not pay the tuition at registration. You will be charged individually for each class attended. There is a one-class ($30) minimum charge for each enrollment.

Q: What if I enroll in the class, pay the discounted tuition for the full session, and later end up missing one or more classes?
A: No refunds will be given for missed classes if the discounted full-session fee is paid.

Q: Can my child drop in on more than one class?
A: Yes, but they must be enrolled in any classes they plan to drop in on.

Q: If I choose the drop-in option, when do I pay?
A: Your card on file will be charged for any classes your child attends. Cards will be charged halfway through the session for any classes attended June 16-July 6, and at the end of the session for any classes attended July 7-27.

Q: What about the final showcase?
A: We do not have final showcases for summer classes. It’s all about learning new skills, making friends, and having fun!
