ABOUT
Ovation Academy provides the highest quality of training and instruction in the arts, encouraging excellence, enthusiasm, professionalism and passion in our students. Ovation believes every child should have access to high quality arts education, and that the arts inspire creativity, intellectual development, confidence, team-work, discipline, enthusiasm, active living, and leadership in our children and youth.
Ovation programming will train students to be life-long learners in the performing arts. For students wishing to prepare for potential performing arts career paths, Ovation provides fundamental training in music, theatre, dance, musical theatre, and soon, behind the scenes. Ovation offers classes in group vocal training, acting tools, musical theater, audition techniques, tap, jazz, hip hop, improv and a variety of audition and training workshops. Our Pre School program is structured to get children moving, thinking, singing and using creative play and their imaginations!
Our team of dynamic instructors is passionate about what they do! Instructors at the Ovation Academy are directors, vocal coaches, working actors, and choreographers who are actively engaged in the arts on a local, national, and international scale. It is that experience that makes the difference in inspiring, sharing and teaching excellence! In addition to regular classes students will also have the opportunity to experience guest teachers, and special workshops from experienced actors, musicians, choreographers and directors in the industry. All of our instructors have a love for young people and a love and passion for the arts!
Ovation Academy for the Performing Arts promotes a friendly, noncompetitive learning environment where all students can gain valuable skills and develop individually. OUR EVOLUTION
The evolution of Ovation Academy began in 2007, when four passionate teachers dedicated to the growth of young people through the power of performing arts — Tina Reynolds, Valerie Sokol, Linda Powell and Michael Jones – created a program to provide young people with a theatrical experience that would foster and educate the importance of excellence, hard work and artistic expression and appreciation. In 2011, Tina Reynolds revived Ovation when she reshaped it into a successful musical theater experience for dedicated high school artists who wanted access to professional training and a high-caliber performing arts outlet.
With the support of a dedicated community, Tina Reynolds formed a new partnership with Sally Prescott, Marcia Frank and Paul Beckwith. The partners opened Ovation Academy for the Performing Arts in October 2014 at its own stand-alone facility in Oak Park, where children and youth ages 4-18 in the western suburbs and throughout Chicago have year-round access to performing arts training and education.
