This class is designed for young singers who want to build confidence and have fun singing! Students will learn foundational skills such as proper vocal warm-ups, stage presence, and lyric memorizing. This is a great prep class for Broadway Voice or a Broadway Academy Show. ACTING I: Intro to Acting

This exciting entry level acting class focuses on giving young performers the CONFIDENCE to grip an audience and the SKILLS to captivate. Students will become more spontaneous, creative, playful and imaginative, all while developing valuable theater and interpersonal skills. COMBO DANCE I: Jazz & Tap

A fun introduction to jazz and tap! Students build rhythm, coordination, and confidence through upbeat combinations, beginner technique, and lots of movement. Each week, dancers spend 30 minutes in each style as they explore foundational skills—including technique, basic terminology, rhythm, and physical musicality—all in a supportive, high-energy environment. This class is the perfect bridge into Broadway Dance I and Tap I.

This combination Jazz & Ballet class is geared toward students who are advanced beginner level dancers. Young performers will explore foundational dance skills for both Jazz and Ballet, including technique, various jumps, leaps, turns, body positions, terminology, and short combinations for both Ballet and Jazz. This class serves as the perfect technique training to accompany or prepare for an Academy Performance!

This advanced level acting class is open to students aged 11+ who have completed Acting II or its curriculum. Working in small groups, students will build on the foundations of Acting II to further explore more complex scene work, acting methods, monologues and character development. Students will craft living and reacting in the moment, generating ideas on the fly, and stretch outside of their comfort zone to become better, more well-rounded actors.

“Get out your tap shoes Francis!” Step up your rhythm and style! This intermediate tap class builds on foundational skills, introducing more complex steps, combinations, and rhythms. Students focus on timing, musicality, and performance quality while developing confidence and precision. Through fun exercises and choreography, performers expand their tap vocabulary and prepare for advanced classes and performance opportunities. Musical theater is equal parts music, and theater. This class will build off the techniques students have honed in Voice II, and explore the importance of compelling storytelling through a performance piece. In addition to advanced level vocal technique and repertoire, students will dive deeper into character work within a song and increase their confidence as a soloist in this advanced level voice class.

ON CAMERA ACTING

FEBRUARY 7 – MARCH 28 | SATURDAY 1:00 – 3:00PM

Lights, camera, action! This 8-week class is split into two focused sessions: 4 weeks on commercial acting and 4 weeks on TV/film techniques. Students learn to act naturally on camera, hit marks, adjust performance for different shot sizes, and deliver authentic emotions. Through working on actual TV/film scenes and commercial copy, students will build confidence, screen presence, and a strong understanding of on-camera storytelling—all in a supportive, hands-on environment.

Musical Theater for Grownups

JANUARY 12 – APRIL 6 | MONDAY 7:30 – 9:30PM

Move over kids, it’s time for the grownups to take the stage! Choose numbers from your favorite Broadway musicals to work on with your fellow musical theater-lovers, incorporating choreography, character development, and vocal harmonies. Culminates in a cabaret-style showcase for friends and family. All levels welcome.

Adult Broadway Dance

Q: Where do classes take place?

A: Ovation now has two locations: the Madison Street Theater at 1010 Madison St in Oak Park; and Ovation Studio at 7419 Madison Street, Forest Park. The locations are 1/2 mile away from one another on Madison Street. The location of each class is indicated in the registration window.

Q: Who is teaching my child’s class?

A: Visit our Staff Page for photos and bios of our amazing staff!

Q: What happens if I miss a class?

A: We do not offer make-up classes, but your child can book a private lesson with an instructor to make up missed content, or simply catch up upon their return.

Q: How does the payment plan option work?

A: If you indicate “Yes” when asked if you’d like to opt in to our payment plan, you will be charged 25% of the tuition up front, and the remaining balance in 3 equal portions until it is paid off. Charges are usually processed on the 1st and 15th of each month.

Q: If I’m unsure what level my child is ready for, how do I decide?

A: Reach out to our staff and we will help you determine the best class for your child.

Q: When is the final showcase?

A: Final showcases take place on the last day of class, during the last 15 minutes of the class session. Families are welcome to join.
